The Art & Technique of the American Commercial



The deadline to submit work is 11:59PM PST November 22, 2017.

To be considered for the program, a director cannot currently be signed to a production company for commercial representation, however both DGA and non-DGA members are encouraged to apply.

Entrants must provide the following:

  • Headshot saved in JPEG format
  • Written Bio/Resume saved in PDF format.
  • 2 x Letters of recommendation in PDF format. ***These letters should be signed and dated, on personal or corporate letterhead with a name, contact information and dated in the current calendar year.***
  • An on camera personal intro and statement video (1 - 2 minutes in length)
  • A Directing Reel (Between 3 - 5 minutes total)

  • Applications will not be accepted prior to the submission period opening date and submission must be submitted no later than 11:59pm on the designated deadline date.

    The Program will run between February-May of 2018. You must be a resident of LA or reside in LA for the length of the program in order to participate.

    Applicants must be able to legally work in the US and be at least 18 years of age.


    The CDDP Advisory Committee will review all entries and select the program participants. If you are chosen as a finalist for the program, you will be notified by mid-December, 2017.

    Program participants will be notified in January of 2018.

    Due to the volume of entries, you will only receive notification if you are a Finalist or are chosen to participate in the Program.
